Now that lilacs are in bloom
by Arlene Ang

I'll have you coagulate the lilacs
a scarlet which clogs the atria
when the wind elbows through all that blood
I'll hear half-a-dozen fists drum my chest
and maybe a raid of sirens driving me to white death
but 200 joules will teleport me back
and I'll regain that familiar view of cumulus clouds
jabbed with lilac scent and that quick painful desire of you
