Room at Strada Lisabona
by Trevor Landers

In your spartan room
   an unlikely lover
drains a bottle of Rigas Balsam; nervously
lubricates the slipping wheels of chance
watches your pacing like a cougar
   her pulse racing,
 he leaves
into the night, without stealth, without kisses
